
On December 15, the Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg-Tchaikovskogo and the St. Petersburg Academic Boris Eifman Ballet Theater invited their partners and friends to a private screening of Rodin Ballet Film presented by some of the troupe’s finest soloists.
This exciting screen version of Boris Eifman’s ballet Rodin was filmed in St. Petersburg in August, 2012. The choreographer himself acted as the film’s director. Responsible for the camera work was the renowned Italian director Daniele Nannuzzi, who gained international fame for his collaboration with some of the world’s greatest filmmakers, in the likes of Franco Zeffirelli and Sergei Bondarchuk.
Dancing the main characters in Rodin are the troupe’s leading soloists: the man’s title role is performed by Oleg Gabyshev, the winner of the Golden Mask, Russia’s highest theatrical award, while the part of Camille Claudel is perfomed by Lyubov Andreeva. Nina Zmievets makes an appearance in the role of Rose Beuret.
Lyubov Andreeva and Nina Zmievets both attended the presentation at the Hotel Indigo and spoke to the evening’s guests about their work on the staging. Boris Eifman, the artistic director of the company, also attended the evening, and answered questions of the audiences about this production and his other ballet shows.
